TecMinho participated in the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ TEXMATRIX project, in Bucharest (Romania). This project aims to bridge the gap between the strategic need of textile companies to retain qualified personnel and the current skills of the young workforce. The aim is to develop a knowledge matrix for innovation, as well as to diffuse a creative organizational culture within textile companies by transferring and implementing methodologies and tools for a more efficient training and retention of specialised personnel, to better address the rapid changes of trends and technologies in the textile industry.
TecMinho is the Portuguese organizational partner in this innovative project, being responsible for the development of a Guide with innovative solutions for textile companies based on innovation results from higher education institutions and other renown institutions across Europe.
Coordinated by INCDTP - National Research and Development Institute for Textiles and Leather (Romania), other project partners include the University of Maribor (Slovenia), Centrocot – Centro Tessile Cotoniero e Abbigliamento (Italy), Technical University – Iasi (Romania) and TecMinho (Portugal).
The TEXMATRIX project will have a strong university-enterprise element, through the promotion of innovation results to and the training of personnel from 40 companies in the textile industry.
Starting from a matrix of results, during 2016 and 2017, benchmarking and promotional activities of innovation results will be carried out. An e-learning platform dedicated to the project will allow partners, companies and their personnel, university students and professors to collaborate with each other through a knowledge exchange network aimed at innovation within the textile companies and regions involved.
As a result of the project a guide with innovative solutions containing transferable results will be developed, as will a long distance training course on innovation, to be implemented in 2018.
The kick-off meeting for the TEXMATRIX project was attended by Ana Dias (TecMinho) and by renown specialist in the textile industry, Luís Almeida (Professor at the University of Minho), as well as by 10 other specialists from the textile regions of the four participating countries.
