Innovative Entrepreneurship generated at the University of Minho was awarded for 8th time in the "SpinUM - Business Ideas Contest", an initiative promoted by TecMinho with the support of Spinpark. The final session of this competition took place in Avepark, and awarded the business ideas chosen by the jury as the most innovative and with most business potential.
 
The winning idea of the "1st Prize SpinUM" was "Gensys" presented by the promoter Filipa Teixeira. Developed by researchers and professors of the Department of Production and Systems (University of Minho), the Gensys consists of an Information System for Planning, Control and Production Scheduling directed to the manufacturing industries wishing to invest in diversity and customization of its products and has already been tested in the Bosch Car Multimedia, and is scheduled for implementation in the leading companies in the region.
 
The "2nd Prize SpinUM" was assigned to the business idea "Caring4uOstomy" by Sónia Ferreira, which aims to address the main shortcomings of medical devices for ostomy disposal, through the development of a new solution that allows a better quality of life for 5 millions of people through the development of new materials and new ergonomic solutions, easy to use and secure.

The prize "Young Entrepreneurs" was awarded to the business idea "Night Out" presented by Francisco Lopes. Night Out is a platform that allows to find the fun nocturnal space that meets the preferences of users, aimed at university students and tourists.

Organized by TecMinho together with Spinpark, and aimed at the research community, students and alumni of the University of Minho, the Competition "SpinUM" rewards and supports the most innovative business ideas and with the greatest potential in any field of science or technology, generated in what is now surely one of the most entrepreneurial universities in Portugal - the University of Minho.
